International Hyperhidrosis Society to Offer Continuing Medical Education Symposia on Emerging Concepts and Treatments for Excessive Sweating
PHILADELPHIA – June 13, 2005 – The International Hyperhidrosis Society is sponsoring three one-day symposia entitled “Hyperhidrosis Emerging Concepts and Treatments” led by a panel of internationally recognized experts and focusing on the newest procedures and treatment options for this chronic and debilitating condition defined by excessive sweating. Estimated to affect nearly eight million people in the United States, hyperhidrosis can significantly damage a patient’s quality of life by impacting relationships, career choices and mental well-being.
The one-day seminar will provide interested healthcare professionals with a thorough background of the disorder and augment participants’ expertise in diagnosing and treating this often under- or misdiagnosed disorder. .
Specifically, attendees will be given the opportunity to learn the pathophysiology of hyperhidrosis and how it is classified; the indications for, techniques of administering and potential complications of the current and emerging treatments for hyperhidrosis; the effects of hyperhidrosis on a patient’s quality of life; and the specific techniques of iontophoresis, botulinum toxin injections and surgery. The course will also include a discussion of coding, billing and documentation of services as well as successes and failures unique to specific regions.
The courses will be held in Boston (July 9), Anaheim, CA (July 30) and New York (September 24) and will be hosted by leading internationally recognized hyperhidrosis experts, including IHHS President David M. Pariser, M.D., IHHS board members DeeAnna Glaser, M.D. and Samuel S. Ahn, M.D., as well as Sandeep H. Cliff, M.D. and Lewis Stolman, M.D.
