Dr. David Pariser along with fellow International Hyperhidrosis Society board member Dr. Dee Anna Glaser as well as Dr. Anthony Benedetto, Dr. James M. Swinehart and Dr. Ada Regina Trindade de Almeida, will host an informative and practical hyperhidrosis forum (FRM 532) at the American Academy of Dermatology's (AAD) Annual Meeting (Feb. 1 - 5, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, San Antonio, TX) on Saturday, February 2, beginning at 3pm (see AAD Annual Meeting Program Book page 142.) The International Hyperhidrosis Society encourages all dermatology professionals to attend. Topics to be covered will include:
  • How to diagnose and evaluate patients with primary and secondary hyperhidrosis.

  • How to recognize functional and quality of life limitations in patients with hyperhidrosis.

  • How to select and utilize the most appropriate therapies for hyperhidrosis.
Additionally, detailed treatment algorithms and practical tips will be provided in reference to all currently available therapies, including topical agents, oral medications, iontophoresis, chemodenervation with botulinum toxin, and a variety of surgical approaches. Techniques for anesthesia during botulinum toxin injections will also be discussed and high-quality video demonstrations will be used to truly show how treatments and procedures are done.

For those interested in the latest hyperhidrosis research, a number of related exhibit posters will be presented in San Antonio, including:
  • P303: Clinical comparison of OTC products labeled "prescription strength wetness protection" to prescription and OTC antiperspirants

  • P401: Comparison of tap water iontophoresis to iontophoresis with glycopyrrolate

  • P420: Comparison of 20% aluminum chloride solution and botulinum toxin A injection in the treatment of patients with primary palmar hyperhidrosis
Also of note, the Annual Meeting will include two very informative botulinum toxin courses and a discussion of facial flushing:
  • Basic Botulinum Toxin, CRS 101 (see Program Book p. 75), Fri. Feb. 1, 9am-12pm (ticket required for admission.) International Hyperhidrosis Society board member, Dr. Dee Anna Glaser, will be part of the faculty.

  • Flushing Reactions: Diagnosis and Treatment, DSG 443 (Program Book p. 213), Mon. Feb. 4, 2:30pm-4pm.
All of us at the International Hyperhidrosis Society are looking forward to this informative and noteworthy AAD Annual Meeting and we hope we can also look forward to seeing you there!
