David M. Pariser, MD Begins His Term as AAD President with Wish List in Hand
David M. Pariser, MD begins his one-year term as President of the American Academy of Dermatology in just a few days. Your response to our call for your top-priority wishes (on all matters relating to hyperhidrosis) for Dr. Pariser's term has been impressive! He will have his work cut out for him; but there isn't a person better qualified and equipped to help the hyperhidrosis community.
As many of you already know, Dr. Pariser's credentials are impressive. He has treated hundreds of hyperhidrosis patients over the course of his career. In addition to being one of the founding board members of the International Hyperhidrosis Society, he is also the senior physician with Pariser Dermatology Specialists and a professor in the Department of Dermatology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.
Dr. Pariser has lectured and taught extensively in a variety of forums about the mechanism, diagnosis, and treatment of hyperhidrosis. We are also extremely privileged to have Dr. Pariser joining us for our twin CME sessions this spring. Patient volunteers and healthcare professionals who participate in these sessions will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Pariser and receive treatment or instruction from him during the course of the program.
The number of wishes we have to put before Dr. Pariser is substantial, and we know that the stories behind each one will bring it home for him. Here are a few of the things people with hyperhidrosis are wishing for in the year ahead: more education about hyperhidrosis for healthcare providers; the cost of Botox injections to come down; less painful methods for Botox injections, especially the hands; more studies examining alternative treatments, like acupuncture and homeopathy; an antiperspirant for the face, to name a few.
We wish Dr. Pariser all the best in his year as AAD President. We encourage you to continue to send us your wish lists. It's important that all hyperhidrosis sufferers feel invested in his year at the top of this powerful and prestigious organization. We know his tenure will usher in an unprecedented expansion in the recognition and understanding of hyperhidrosis.
