SweatHelp.org Now Online in Spanish
The International Hyperhidrosis Society is committed to serving the needs of Spanish-speaking hyperhidrosis sufferers and their families. For instance, since 2004 the Society has been helping excessive sweaters to find physicians experienced in treating hyperhidrosis through its online Physician Finder database, which includes physicians worldwide and is searchable by state, country, and U.S. and Mexican postal code.
Approximately 3% of the world's population suffers from excessive sweating including an estimated 13.5 million Spanish-speakers (more than 1 million in the United States alone!) But until recently, it has been difficult for Spanish-speakers to find reliable, comprehensive, objective, and current information about the diagnosis and treatment of excessive sweating.
"Most people - even physicians - don't understand that hyperhidrosis can and should be treated like any other serious medical condition," says Flor Mayoral M.D., a board certified dermatologist and clinical faculty member at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
To help address the needs of Spanish-speakers worldwide, the International Hyperhidrosis Society has launched a Spanish version of its informative Web site SweatHelp.org. From basic information about the symptoms of hyperhidrosis, to detailed comparisons of available treatments, this Web site provides Spanish-speaking hyperhidrosis sufferers, as well as their loved ones and friends, with the information they need to better understand excessive sweating and how to get help.
Also available in Spanish is the International Hyperhidrosis Society's free educational brochure, which (like the Spanish SweatHelp.org site) contains current hyperhidrosis information including important diagnosis and treatment overviews. The brochure is available to people all over the world who suffer from excessive sweating, their loved ones, and their physicians - at no cost! Even shipping and handling is free. To receive your copy of this easy-to-read and informative brochure, just send an e-mail with your complete mailing address to Support@SweatHelp.org. Please include "Spanish Brochure" in the subject line of your message.
"The International Hyperhidrosis Society's efforts to educate the Spanish-speaking community about the diagnosis and management of excessive sweating are crucial to helping sufferers to get the help they desperately need," says Mayoral.
